Paris. Fashion Week. Fall 2012. Jewelry on the runway. Fist pump.
Paris Fashion Week is like no other — sorry New York, I love you too — the runways started us off with crazy notions like Limi Feu’s pearls swinging at levels lower…way, way, lower…than anyone would even think possible. Then you have Dries Van Noten with neck pieces that fell to ballet-neckline lengths and framed the face and shoulders gracefully, in spite of their gawky circumference. Rochas’ mid-century-inspired clothes met their Calder-esque counterparts. Paris runways observe no boundaries. Jewelry styling is expressed in oceans of thought and waves of nuance. Small themes are blown up into gargantuan concepts. Period design is transformed into modern statements, sacrosanct art into the quotidian.
