Milan Fashion Week, Spring 2012: Being Hue to Oneself
September 28th, 2011Color will have a global moment next spring. Milan Fashion Week, Spring 2012 gave us beautiful bold shades that brought a playfulness to the clothes and gave woman new choices in accessorizing. While bracelets are fashion’s default embellishment, and Armani’s translucent arm candy in pale pastels won me over, it was the earring that felt newer and far more universal in appeal. For centuries, probably even millennia, the earring remains a favorite of the jewelbox. Regardless of hue, metal, gem or size, the earring flatters the focal point: the face. Which is why when Hollywood choses to spare the baubles, earrings are always the one holdout.
What does this stroke from the painter’s palette mean for us non-runway types next spring? Find a hue that works for you. Take on a saturated blue, red, or umber — or try adding bits of color with Missoni charm (note the necklace above). Give it a try during this coming winter and see what you think. If you end up feeling like its more meh than me (meaning, you), throw on your down coat (just got the new 3-way Unqlo +J — love!), toss up the hood, and call it a day.
Please don’t forget to join me next Monday at 7:30 pm EST for my spreecast: http://www.spreecast.com/events/the-treasure-hunt
