Gurhan Adds Silver To His Golden Palette

January 16th, 2009

The jewelry designer, who is know for his use of pure (24-karat) gold in his antiquity-inspired pieces, has now taken a shine to sterling silver. The new designs are quintessential Gurhan in flavor and approach; silver is used both darkened and bright, either oxidized or rhodium-plated black (which gives the piece a gorgeous finish), and mixed with pure gold. The jewelry looks as if it was just found at an archeological dig, the warmth and texture of the hammered metal is visually satisfying but not too precious.
