Bedecked Convalescence

Barbara Hutton

Barbara Hutton was once discovered wearing her tiara while sitting in bed. She was convalescing and loved this head piece so much that she decide to adorn herself appropriately for the occasion. Not many of us would be so moved by a jewel that we would don our dearest finery while recouping. However today I am one of those who can sympathize with Ms. Hutton. I have, as my physician has termed it benignly, a calf muscle injury (it felt like such an innocent little “pop” when I was working out). Now walking up and down stairs takes ten minutes and I need a cane to get around. The teasing from my kids is nonstop and my husband just smiles and asks if I would like a cup of tea.

I need a tiara. Badly.
