Spun Gold

August 13th, 2008

Kuwayama, a Japanese chain-making company turned fine jewelry manufacturer, has reinvented the use of whisper-thin gold wire. Once woven into a delicate wire mesh, the material has the fluidity and transparency of silk chiffon. This necklace, from their Chiffon Garden Collection, is made of multi-hued 18kt gold. All the floral elements are constructed by hand and then applied. Japanese Akoya pearls appear as buds and enamel accents brings life to the whole.
