Doing The Diamond Necklace

Chopard diamonds

Doesn’t actress and Golden Globe winner Julie Christie wear this diamond necklace brilliantly? Of course being effortlessly beautiful certainly doesn’t hurt. It’s been a while since we’ve seen gems used to highlight a neckline on the red carpet. Until recently they’ve been relegated to the ear in the form of pendant earrings, and of course that look can be great when done with a careful edit in dress and wise selection of ornament. Yet, I’m tired of the parade of bare necklines, long tresses and up-dos paired with face-framing glitter. And we all know the drill about earrings highlighting a woman’s face, ad nauseam. Looks tire over time and the eye searches for a new, if not innovative, place to bring a bit of sparkle.

For photography, there is nothing like the diamond necklace–or a good facsimile thereof (many a cz has hit the red carpet when fine jewels cannot be had). This particular gem grabs any available light and holds it for the duration. It is definitely a sit-up-and-take-notice sort of item. It is also a classic in that it has always held a kind of incontrovertible cachet. Ageless, a diamond necklace suits every women, at whatever stage of life she is currently enjoying—whether it be the provocative exuberance of youth or the seductive elegance of maturity.
