Because of my work, I have the privilege of being introduced to the most fabulous pieces of vintage jewelry. In my travels today I came across examples that speak not of their time, but of our own. I’m always so amazed when I see a period earring or bracelet that mixes in easily with our modern style. This is not about being “classic” in the way that the white shirt is a closet staple. With jewelry, it’s more about context. Is it still relevant over the course of decades or even a century? Does the design date itself? Does it remain wearable regardless of current clothing trends? Great design reaches out to us from beyond the era in which it was born and beckons us with its irresistible pull.
